My baby sister is married! Where has the time gone?! I remember playing board games, putting together plays, and giggling late into the night for no reason except the fact we thought everything was funny. You were my little sister I loved to dress up, do your hair, and put makeup on. You were my little sister who helped me pick on our middle sister, Heather. Then to just turn around and help Heather torment me. I miss those days so much, even more now when I realize how quickly everything goes by. I was so happy to watch you marry your soul mate, your best friend, and the love of your life. I honestly could not of picked someone better for you. Congratulations baby sister, I cannot wait to continue life with you!
Allen & Jenni's wedding day was the perfect spring wedding, the trees just all bloomed pink and white. The air was warm but crisp. The sun was fully shinning and the wind was at bay. For western Kansas, that is rare that their was little wind. We all started our day promptly at 6:30 am for hair and makeup. We went to no other than Uptown Style, the most well known salon in Colby, Kansas to be primped and pampered. My dear high school friend Riley did everyone's hair and knocked it out of the park! Allen's sweet cousin, who is a makeup artist, volunteered her service to do everyone's makeup and she killed it!
We back to the hotel for the famous "fun girl photos" we might not of popped champagne but we sure threw a lot of confetti in the room! We all got our adorable robes off Etsy, the mix and match was a nice touch to the morning PJ attire. Jemni's dress came from an adorable wedding boutique in Hays, KS.
She choose to have our grandma hem the dress to her measurements to have a final touch of "good luck" on her day. I must say the photos I viewed of our grandma doing this was amazing. Our grandma could not of been any happier to sew her dress. I am guessing she is thinking back to all the times Jenni asked her to fix a pair of ripped jeans, a torn shirt, or to have her sew together a dress for her. These moments are what makes a wedding day special to one's heart.
Jenni & Allen choose to do a first look and exchange gifts prior to the ceremony. During this time they were able to spend a good amount of time alone, pray, and be in each other's company before the big event. They are very happy they choose to do this option as for the first 8 months they were really set on no first look. I am glad they came around and enjoyed the time they got to have together.
Allen and Jenni had a traditional Catholic Wedding Ceremony at the same church Jenni spent many years during her Catholic school years praying and learning about God's love. The father was kind, witty, and was ready to get these two married. My favorite kind of Priest! We did a grand ceremony exit with bubbles and cheers. Then off we went to do bridal party photos with Amber.
We choose the Colby College campus to do these photos, they have the best trees that bloom pink. During this time you really got to see the love, excitement, and bliss within Jenni & Allen's relationship. Amber barely had to tell them what to do and when to kiss because they were in their own little love world.
The day before our Sister Heather actually gave birth to her first baby, Beau. Allen, Jenni, I, Justin (my husband) went to go visit her, Daniel, and Beau. Seriously this whole weekend was full of amazing events!
The reception hall was decorated beautifully by Allen's entire family. They took a traditional hall and turned into a magical space that you normally do not find out in Western Kansas. We did all the traditional small town reception activities. The grand entrance of hootin and hollering, the Grand March, the dollar dance, bet on who gets the cake smashed in their face, and of course an amazing Sparkler exit.
Amber did a fantastic job photographing everything ,heck she took over 4,000 photos just on her own! Whiile reviewing the photos I really realized how important our jobs are. I knew but I didn't know like I knew now. Looking back at all the smiles, laughs, tears and moments that are soon missed really grabbed onto my heart stings.
Thank you so much Amber for everything!
Congratulations Jennilee an Allen!
